Functional skills qualifications are offered for English and Maths. You can study for one subject only, or both.
English – This qualification enables you to develop your abilities to read, write, speak, listen and communicate in English and apply this knowledge to familiar situations.
Maths – This qualification will enable you to demonstrate your confidence in using mathematics by giving you the underpinning knowledge and skills to solve straightforward problems.
The qualifications will support your entrance into any career or further learning if you don’t have GCSE equivalents. They can underpin apprenticeships and technical qualifications. They will build the core skills you will need for employment (such as being able to solve problems and use technology effectively).
The courses are delivered in a practical way, often linking your learning with projects and activities to help you see how what you have learned can apply in the real world.
